Prep Post 1: Gene Therapy

Genetic disorders can cause different kinds of diseases in humans. when a person has a genetic disorder, it means that an important section of his or her DNA does not work properly. Scientist are learning how to inert healthy DNA into human cells to cure disease. This technique is called gene therapy. The hope is that when cells with healthy DNA are added to a person's body, they will begin to produce new cells that work properly.  In time, the new cells would correct the damage and heal the person.  Doctors are using gene therapy to help patients with many diseases, including cancer and cystic fibrosis.  What do you think about gene therapy?  How else can it be beneficial? What might be some concerns with it?
